Publishing with Springer/Canopus

Canopus Publishing Limited commissions and produces physics monographs, reference works, and conference proceedings for Springer Verlag in Heidelberg and Dordrecht. As such, Canopus supplements Springer's global publishing operation offering parallel commissioning and production of titles for the Springer list.

Canopus benefits

Canopus is a regionally focussed and attentive environment which makes the publishing path quick and personal, taking advantage of our location in Bristol, with easy access to all the UK's centres of excellence in physics. In particular we provide:

1) Rapid decision making on all publishing proposals. A decision about acceptance for the Springer list within one month.
2) Clear and simple guidelines for authors to follow as they prepare their text.
3) Fast publication time. From receipt of draft to printed books in 6 months.
4) Personal touch: editor and director always available to handle any questions which arise.
5) Global sales and marketing under the Springer imprint, through the world's foremost global publisher in the physical sciences.

Canopus experience

Canopus's commissioning editors Tom Spicer and Jim Revill have tremendous experience commissioning in the physical sciences, and have recently combined forces under the Springer/Canopus banner to develop a new list for Springer Verlag. Our editors have published more than 600 titles for Institute of Physics Publishing, and we as a company have worked for and with a wide range of other clients: George Philip, Johns Hopkins University Press, Firefly Books (US), Carlton Books, National Physical Laboratory, Macmillan, and the UK's Sunday Times.

New title proposals

Canopus is actively looking for new titles in the physical sciences for publication by Springer Verlag, and welcomes new book proposals. Book proposals must be of the excellent scientific quality commensurate with publication by the world's leading physics publisher.
